2017 MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL ALL-STAR GAME – JULY 11, 2017
In July 2017, Miami plays host to MLB’s Midsummer Classic – the week-long celebration includes baseball’s legendary All-Star Game, All-Star Workout and Home-Run Derby at Marlins Park; a five-day FanFest at the Miami Beach Convention Center; and a number of community-wide events from an All-Star Red Carpet Parade, 5K & Fun Run, to concerts, celebrity softball and youth programming. The GMCVB Sports/Sales Team including the Miami-Dade Sports Commission worked with the Miami Marlins to secure the event – projected economic impact in excess of $60 million from out-of-state visitors – last week teamed with the Marlins again to secure a grant from the Florida Sports Foundation. This very important grant will offset operating expenses for the many events, and help showcase the destination to a worldwide audience of more than 11 million in 200 countries and 12 languages.
