Miami Beach trolleys will operate until 2 a.m. on New Year’s Eve, according to city officials. As always, the trolleys are free for residents and visitors alike.
“This year, we wanted to make sure the city of Miami Beach put its best foot forward in keeping our streets safe for the holiday,” explained Miami Beach City Manager Jimmy L. Morales. “The extended trolley schedule will do just that to ensure everyone has a pleasant and safe night as they welcome the New Year.”
Ocean Drive will be closed to traffic between Fifth to 14 streets starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30 until 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 1.
Fireworks light up the sky high above Ocean Drive on New Year’s Eve between 5 and 15 Streets.
“New this year, Española Way will host a public street party starting at 4 p.m. until 2 a.m. featuring a live DJ and big screen to watch the famous ball drop,” according to the city’s Melissa Berthier. “The free events will invite Miami Beach families, visitors and businesses to come together and celebrate another successful year for this vibrant city.”
