It’s official: Selena Gomez has been, at one point or another, on Demi Lovato’s playlist.
On Monday, Lovato posted a picture of herself hanging out with friends at what looks like a hookah bar. No news there, right? Well, upon closer inspection, the caption is what everyone cannot get over. “Kill em with kindness…. Or choke em with a smile on your face,” she wrote.
Now, if you’ve never heard a single Gomez track, this isn’t at first-glance anything exceptional. Lovato is simply sharing a glowing photo from a night out with friends, making a joke about choking her friend as he makes a funny face. But, as with most things, there’s more to it.
“Kill Em with Kindness” is a chart-topping Gomez hit and so that explains the reason for over 7,000 comments on her post. Paris Hilton responded with a heart emoji, which is pretty exciting. But loyal fans of Selena were super quick to tag the star, pointing out Lovato’s clear reference to her jam.

The fans are of course referring to their friendship nickname, Delena. So can we expect them to hang out again soon? The pop stars have gone through ups and downs since they first starred together on Barney & Friends, but this appears to be a step in the right direction.
