Starwood Capital CEO Sternlicht pays $17M for Miami Beach site, starts building home – South Florida Business Journal

Starwood Capital Group Chairman and CEOBarry S. Sternlicht is building a mansion on Miami Beach after paying $17 million for a waterfront site.

Sternlicht is the head of the Greenwich, Conn.-based private equity fund that invests billions in hotels. He’s also the chairman of Starwood Property Trust (NYSE: STWD), Starwood Waypoint Residential Trust (NYSE: SWAY), and TRI Pointe Homes (NYSE: TPH).
