There are many non-profit organizations serving the South Beach and North Miami Beach areas. These are great avenues that represent causes such as children’s advocacy, the elderly’s care, animal protection, and Miami’s less fortunate. They are the voice for the voiceless and the soul of Miami.
At Plaza Health Network, they provide award winning rehabilitation, therapy and long term care for the elderly community in Miami Beach. Whether you or your loved ones are in need of therapy during your short term recovery or optimal long-term assisted living, they have the friendly and attentive staff to get you home again. Their goal and mission is to provide the very best trainers and nurses to serve your every need; knowing that you are transitioning from the hospital and are ready to get back to living life to the fullest. Plaza Health provides only the finest care, always treating you with dignity and respect.
Miami Beach Community Development Corporation (MBCDC) was created to enhance the community’s quality and to pursue and balance between historic preservation with economic vitality. They were the non profit organization that initiated the Art Deco District revitalization, along with Ocean Drive and Lincoln Road. They started protecting Miami Beach’s diverse and eclectic neighborhoods in 1981, and they continue to find a project to benefit the community. Because of this advocate, crime has been decreased on the streets of Miami Beach; MBCDC is currently fighting to preserve affordable housing on the island and to strengthen residential neighborhoods in the area.
The Miami Design Preservation League is an advocate to uphold and keep the cultural, environmental and architectural history on Miami Beach. They are committed to protect the integrity of the Miami Beach Architectural Historic District and the City of Miami Beach as a whole. From the beginning of this organization, they have received National recognition, they saved Versace’s residence and the Avery Smith House and they have reduced the hight requirements on all of South Beach’s buildings. But without the helping hand of visitors and residents of Miami Beach, they wouldn’t be able to accomplish all they have. That’s right, you can help the community in its mission, by simply taking good care of the individual buildings that make up the beach’s skyline, preserve its resources and be involved in proposing and supporting the changes—they will benefit the community you live in and preserve the rich culture hidden deep within the soil of South Beach.
